Putting Mendham First: My Commitment to Service

By Bud Murphy - Candidate for Mendham Borough Council

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

I am proud to announce that I have won the Republican primary for Mendham Borough Council. Thank you to everyone who voted and who has stood behind this campaign. Your trust is the foundation of everything I intend to do on the Council.

Mendham is not just where I live, it is where my whole life has taken root. My wife Colleen and I will celebrate 23 years of marriage this June, and we have raised our three children here: Molly, a sophomore at Clemson University; Caitlin, a freshman at the University of Delaware; and Aiden, a senior at Mendham High School. All three came up through the Mendham Borough schools, and this town shaped them in ways I am proud of every day.

Professionally, I am a Certified Matrimonial Law Attorney by the New Jersey Supreme Court, currently serving as Counsel at Fox Rothschild LLP, after years running my own law firm right here in Mendham Borough. My family and I also opened Mendham Creamery on Hilltop Road in July of 2017, still open today, which taught me as much about this community from behind the counter as any courtroom ever did.

But if you really want to know who I am, ask one of the kids I coached in youth baseball. For five years I spent my spring and summer evenings on the diamonds here, teaching our children not just how to play the game, but how to show up for each other and win and lose with grace. Those five years taught me more about leadership than almost anything else in my life, and they are a big part of why I also served on the Mendham Borough Recreation Committee during that same stretch.

I currently serve as Deputy Coordinator of the Office of Emergency Management for Mendham Borough, and I was nominated by the New Jersey Supreme Court to the District XA Ethics Committee of Morris County, the same standard of integrity I intend to bring to this Council.

Mendham deserves a Council that is transparent, accountable, and focused on the fundamentals: managing our affordable housing obligations responsibly, controlling costs, and keeping our budget honest, all while preserving the small-town character that makes Mendham feel like home. That is the heart of my campaign: Restoring Trust, Running Mendham Right.

The General Election is this November, and I am asking for your vote and your continued trust.

With gratitude and respect,

Joseph M. "Bud" Murphy, Jr.
