Effective Local Governance starts with trust, and trust is built on open, honest, and consistent communication between the Borough Administration and its residents. Currently, Mendham’s communication from the Mayor, Council & Administration is often reactive, infrequent, and incomplete. Important updates on critical topics frequently arrives too late or not at all, leaving residents feeling uninformed and disconnected. Even basic steps like live streaming meetings and digitizing the monthly newsletter have been met with resistance. Our team believes Mendham deserves better. Proactive, transparent communication is not just important - it’s essential for good governance & a vibrant well informed community.

As newly elected Members of the Borough Council, our team will work to implement a unified, proactive communication strategy to ensure residents get clear, consistent information across multiple platforms. This approach doesn’t mean more meetings or longer emails but will entail smart, coordinated sharing of information.

Regular Mayor’s Update Letters: A brief, easy to understand summary of projects, finances, and decisions sent by email and posted online.
“State of the Borough” Webpage: A central location on the official website with easy-to-read dashboards on budgets, taxes, housing, and long-term plans.
Regular Social Media & Email Updates: Timely posts and alerts.
Links to Source Documents: Direct access to official reports, budgets, meeting minutes, and resolutions.
Proactive Project Updates: Regular updates on key issues, especially affordable housing, with clear timelines and public comment opportunities.
Live Streaming of Council Meetings: Access to all Borough meetings via live stream, ensuring transparency and allowing residents to participate in real-time.
Digital of Monthly Newsletters: A modern, easily accessible digital format.
This multi-channel strategy ensures residents receive the same accurate information, no matter how they access it.
Unlike the current administration, which often communicates post events or deadlines, we believe leadership should anticipate questions & actions and communicate in advance. Transparent, ongoing communication is not a luxury; it’s a basic responsibility of good governance. As a candidate for Mayor, I have firsthand experience in implementing these kinds of solutions. As a municipal administrator, I have successfully launched live-streaming platforms, digital newsletters, and even live TV broadcasts of town meetings, transforming the way residents engage with local government. This experience is something we need to bring to Mendham Borough.
